What happened to Arman Tsarukyan at UFC 311?

Arman Tsarukyan was forced to pull out of his highly anticipated main event bout with UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev. Tsarukyan suffered a back and neck injury that forced him out of the fight.

The fight would be Tsarukyan’s first shot at a world title. Makhachev will go on to defend his title in the main event.

Renato Moicano will replace Tsarukyan and challenge for Makhachev’s title. Moicano was originally scheduled to fight Beneil Dariush on the card. Both men made weight on Friday, but with Moicano up for the championship opportunity, Dariush remained unopposed.

Several lightweights, such as Michael Chandler, volunteered to step up on super short notice to fight Dariush, but the decision was made to remove him from the card.

What will happen to Beneil Dariush?

According to UFC president Dana White, the promotion will take care of Dariush, which likely means he will get his show money and maybe half of what he would have gotten if he beat Moicano.

The main event remains unchanged: UFC bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili will defend his title against Umar Nurmagomedov. Also on the card, two former UFC heavyweight champions will collide when Jiří Procházka takes on Jamahal Hill.

Things still look great on paper, so stay tuned for post-event coverage (bonus winners) and mid-event coverage (instant reactions and key announcements) from Inglewood.
