With just a few days left until the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event, last-minute leaks continue to appear – this time, for the flagship Galaxy S25 Ultra and, in particular, for its improved cameras.

January 16 Update below: New leaks reveal official Samsung Promo material confirming new AI features and improved camera specs.

Despite a relatively small expected increase in camera hardware specs, a new report from Samsung regular Ahmed Qwaider claims that the Galaxy S25 Ultra will deliver noticeable improvements in photos and videos.

According to Qwaider, these improvements include:

High Resolution – Better video results with less noise

The report does not specify how Samsung will achieve these video improvements. However, previous leaks point to improved nighttime videos, thanks to Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Elite processor and higher-resolution ultra-wide videos.

Ultra Wide Camera — The best macro mode with 4x better clarity

This upgrade will most likely come from the previously revealed 50-megapixel upgrade to the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s ultra-wide-angle camera. This new sensor would deliver four times the resolution of the 12-megapixel version on the S24 Ultra.

Audio Eraser – Remove unwanted sounds from video with AI.

This powerful feature, first seen in Google’s Pixel 8 series, could be coming to the Samsung Galaxy range. Already revealed by well-known tipster Ice Universe on Chinese microblogging platform Weibo, Audio Eraser is expected to arrive as part of One UI7 and is therefore unlikely to be limited to the S25 series devices, given that the publisher has already posted a screenshot of the feature on a current generation smartphone.

Log Video – Support for professional workflows

Log video records more dynamic range than standard 8-bit recordings, allowing for more flexible editing and color grading after shooting. Apple’s iPhone range currently supports the feature in ProRes RAW mode, but Android devices currently have to switch to third-party apps like Mcpro24fps or MotionCam Pro to shoot in log mode.

Seamless camera switching during video recording

The Galaxy S24 series already supports seamless camera switching to some extent, and the report gives no information on how the Galaxy S25 Ultra could improve in this regard. However, the current implementation is not perfect. Samsung is likely to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite’s improved image signal processor to improve image quality and smooth transitions between lenses in video recordings.

Alongside what appear to be modest improvements in camera hardware, the Snapdragon 8 Elite will do most of the heavy lifting to bring significant improvements in AI, features, camera quality and overall performance to the Galaxy S25 range . This improved processing power, combined with Samsung’s new One UI 7 firmware, will make for an exciting release later this month.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra will be revealed just days from now at the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event, now confirmed for January 22nd at 6pm.

January 16 Update: More leaks appear – AI features and camera specs revealed

Brazilian news site Teconoblog has obtained what appear to be official Samsung promotional materials ahead of the Galaxy Unpacked event. These promotional images confirm many existing leaks about the Galaxy S25 series and tease some exciting new AI capabilities.

Galaxy S25 Series – New AI Features Revealed

According to the report, the Galaxy S25 series will offer:

  • Google’s Gemini AI Assistant integrated with YouTube and Samsung Notes
  • A new Now Brief feature, which brings you personalized information about the highlights of your day

In an example query on YouTube, the user asks, “Hey Google Gemini, list the places mentioned in this video and save a note.” This suggests that the Galaxy S25 series will use Gemini to extract information from YouTube videos and create new notes in the Samsung Notes app.

Screenshots of the Now Brief feature show full-screen pages titled “Good Morning,” which include weather forecast details and sleep quality information; “On Your Way”, which provides useful suggestions for your commute; and “Night Recap,” which features memorable moments from your day and a summary of your activity and fitness accomplishments.

At this point, we don’t know if these new AI-powered features will require an S25 series device or if One UI 7 will bring them to older models as well.

Galaxy S25 Series – Camera Specs Confirmed

The leaked promotional images also confirm the camera specs for the Galaxy S25, S25+ and S25 Ultra models as follows:

  • Galaxy S25, S25+: 12-megapixel selfie, 12-megapixel ultra-wide, 50-megapixel wide, 10-megapixel 3x telephoto
  • Galaxy S25 Ultra: 12-megapixel selfie, 50-megapixel ultra-wide, 200-megapixel wide, 50-megapixel 5x telephoto, 10-megapixel 3x telephoto

Galaxy S25 Series – Battery Specs Revealed
