It’s Wednesday and you know what that means: it’s time for another round Connections!
I’m writing to you from my laptop while huddled under a blanket because hey, guess what? It is very cold in Canada at this time of year. I wasn’t kidding that I didn’t want out if I couldn’t help it maybe until April.
Before we go, I’ve started a discussion group about Connections and this column on Discord. You can chat about any game (and other topics) with me and other people. I’m always interested to find out how other people approach the game, so join us! It’s a pleasure.
It’s also the best way to give me some feedback on the column, especially on the rare(!) occasion that I mess something up.
of today NYT Connections hints and answers for Wednesday, January 15, are coming soon.
How to play the links
Connections is a free, popular New York Times daily word game. You get a new puzzle at midnight every day. You can play in NYT the Games website or app.
You are presented with a grid of 16 words. Your task is to arrange them into four groups of four by finding the connections between them. Groups can be things like clickable articles, names for research study participants, or words preceded by a body part.
There is only one solution to each puzzle and you will have to be careful when it comes to words that can fit into more than one category. You can mix the words to help you see the connections between them.
Each group is color coded. The yellow group is usually the easiest to understand, the blue and green fall in between, and the purple group is usually the hardest. The purple group often includes puns.
Choose four words that you think go together and press submit. If you make a guess and are incorrect, you will lose a life. If you’re close to making a correct set, you may see a message telling you that you’re just one word away from getting it right, but you’ll still need to figure out which one to switch.
If you make four mistakes, it’s game over. Let’s make sure that doesn’t happen with the help of some tips and, if you’re really struggling, today Connections answers. How about me Wordle and other similar games, it’s easy to share scores with your friends on social media and group chats.
If you have one NYT All Access or Games subscription, you can access the publication Connections the archive. This includes any previous games of Connectionsso you can go back and play any of the ones you missed.
Aside from the first 60 or so games, you should be able to find my suggestions for each network via Google if you need them! Just click here and add the game date you need data on or search query answers for.

A mistake to start things off, then I got the rainbow for my third win in a row. Here’s how I got on:

My opening step was a guess of TOOLS, ROBOT, MECHANISM and TOOLS. That got me out of a group. From there, I traded ROBOT for MEDIUM to get the yellows.
The greens then rose as soon as I drew a connection between SHORT and SHYY. Blue and purple gave me a bit of trouble. But eventually I realized that PASTER and DRY were types of martini preparation and I tapped into my memory to remember that PERFECT is one too.
That left purple. I did not understand the connection to this group, although Mr. ROBOT flashed in my mind when I first saw the web. I didn’t really see it Sex and the City and I didn’t even know about the group Mr. BIG until I looked it up just now. I believe Mr. Peanut is out Connections before, but I didn’t remember that until I saw the band title come up.
Mr. ROBOT, of course, is a well-rated drama series, while Mr. TOAD is i The Wind in the Willows fame. However, the current best gentleman on the net is Mr. PERFECT, a professional wrestler who was very good.
That’s all there is for today Connections data and response. Be sure to check my blog tomorrow for tips and solutions for Thursday’s game if you need them.
PS Games Done Quick is one of my very favorite things. Twice a year, the gaming community celebrates a week-long charity sprint marathon. In other words, players try to finish matches as quickly as possible. Often there are certain conditions, such as not being able to take advantage of a bug or even being blindfolded!
The most recent GDQ event took place last week and raised over $2.5 million for the Cancer Prevention Foundation. This edition had one of my favorite GDQ runs ever. Someone tried to beat Crazy Taxi as quickly as possible while a live band played the game’s iconic soundtrack. This is a lot of fun:
And just because, here’s the song most people remember from that game, “All I Want” by The Offspring:
I’ll be doing another absolutely brilliant GDQ race for you to enjoy tomorrow.
Have a nice day! Make sure you drink enough water! Call someone you love!
