Grant Cardone has built his real estate legacy from coast to coast, but the outspoken business leader is furious with California’s Democratic leadership for not acting sooner to prevent catastrophic fire damage after his Malibu home was destroyed by the flames
“You cut budgets when you should have increased them. You said you were ready, but you weren’t. You’re wrong on both counts. Take responsibility and get out,” Cardone told Fox News Digital on Thursday.
“My message to California – revolt and protest. Hold those in power accountable.”
Cardone allegedly owns one of the last homes in Carbon Beach, which recently fell victim to five fires that swept through the Los Angeles area. At least five people have been killed and more than 29,000 acres remain burning as of early Thursday, according to Cal Fire.
DEMOCRAT-RUN STATE INSURANCE PROPOSAL FALLS FAR AS FIRE FIRE
While Gov. Gavin Newsom has been on the ground overseeing the state’s disaster response, Cardone is echoing calls made recently by President-elect Trump that Newsom should resign “immediately,” citing “gross incompetence.”
He told Fox Digital that he wants Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass to resign as soon as possible.
“I’ve lived there for 35 years in that area. And for years I’ve said that this is a black box waiting to explode … There are hundreds of billions of dollars in damage across California that could have been prevented if California actually would to have her priorities straight,” Cardone also said during an appearance on “Mornings with Maria.”
“This is a corrupt government that depends on the federal government in emergencies. They make more money in emergencies than they do just by planning their budget,” he continued. “They said we had a lot of water, but no pressure. If they didn’t spend $12 billion on high-speed rail going to Vegas or basically nowhere, you’d have that money to bury the electricity and to ensure pressure for all [water] hydrants.”
Cardone further criticized: “It’s a mismanagement of priorities. The state of California, for the last 25 years, has been more interested in the agendas of queer groups than the people of California… Maybe this will be when the people of California they finally had enough and started voting conservative, common-sense politicians or business people into government to manage their budgets.”
FOX Weather has reported that initial estimates put the cost of damage at about $52 billion, making this the costliest wildfire event in US history.

City government data also shows that for the 2023-2024 fiscal year, Los Angeles budgeted $837 million for the Los Angeles Fire Department, which was roughly 65% of the size of the $1.3 billion homelessness budget. An analysis by the LA city comptroller last year found that roughly half of the homelessness budget went unspent.
“Elon Musk is trying to get to Mars, and we can’t get pressure and water in the hydrant? We have plenty of water. We’re in the Pacific,” Cardone responded. “They’re going to try to pass this off as a climate warming agenda… This was just mismanagement, a lack of priorities, the government trying to pander to fringe groups and support these weird agendas and not the things that really concern California people. “
